This project was created in response to Alan Lightman╒s book Einstein╒s Dreams, which includes about twenty-five short stories on the subject of time. It was my desire to create an interactive media program which would narrate the book, and, at the same time, explore the temporal aspects of interactive media. Symbol building, understanding and pacing are all related to time, and an interactive media, whether it╒s for entertainment or education, is necessarily experienced in time. Therefore, I designed this program to teach people to explore new things and to associate them with their prior experience.
In this program, all the objects you visit are presented during the progression of time. At the time of your first visit, the objects show themselves generically. On subsequent visits, they evolve and interact with each other. Finally, all the objects merge into a single understanding based on the order in which you visited them.
System Requirements
Any 68040 Macintosh or higher, at least 8 MB RAM, 256 colors, 13² monitor
Turn off all unnecessary system extensions (the program only requires the QuickTime extension).
